Hope
Hope arrived at Animals Africa Sanctuary in 2011 and quickly became the heart of our sanctuary family.
She was gentle, affectionate, and loved by everyone who met her. Visitors and staff could walk up to her, hug her, and scratch behind her enormous horns—something she absolutely adored. She never turned down her favourite treats and had a calm, trusting nature that made her a favourite among children and adults alike.
Throughout her life, Hope became the matriarch of our cattle family, giving birth to several calves and helping build the herd that calls the sanctuary home today. Even in her old age, she remained a symbol of strength, resilience, and unconditional love.
Although Hope has now passed away, her legacy lives on through her offspring and through every life we continue to rescue. She reminds us why every animal deserves compassion, protection, and the chance to live a full and peaceful life.
